IMPRINTS

Synopsis

At a party in their hometown, Charlie is confronted by fragmented memories and a growing mystery: who is Max? Inspired by lived experiences, Imprints explores underrepresented aspects of memory loss, queer identity and the fragile process of piecing together the past.

Through live cinema, puppetry, and dreamlike soundscapes, the Palimpsest Project reconstruct memories in real time to create a haunting, coming-of-age mystery about rediscovering self

amid uncertainty.

It’s a story that is both personal and universal - a meditation on nostalgia, identity, and the delicate threads that shape who we are.

Reviews

EDINBURGH FRINGE FESTIVAL 2025

REVIEWS:

The Scotsman ★★★★ - "A promising debut by a group of gifted performers who have already established a unique theatre making style"

"Ingenious technique"

"Gut clenching aliveness"

Three Weeks ★★ - “I got goosebumps from this. Through inventive methods, the production elevates this story into a visual feast. It’s an explosion of creativity that involves puppetry, live camera, and storytelling, and certain moments left me awestruck."

One4Review ★★ - "The Palimpsest Project have engineered something quietly extraordinary with Imprints — a work that sidesteps cliché and lands somewhere between live cinema, theatre, and a fever-dream scrapbook. It’s a marvel of control. this piece is ambitious, disorienting, and utterly human. "

The Arts Desk ★★ - "Imprints is an assured, confident creation, one whose form rewardingly mirrors its themes. Amid the take-a-gamble unpredictability of the Fringe, it’s a joy to discover a recently established company with interesting things to say, and clever ways of saying them."

The Recs ★★ - "The company creates a multimedia landscape that is consistently enthralling. The result is a coming-of-age story the likes of which this reviewer has never before seen, all told as a mystery that keeps its protagonist and the audience guessing."
